High School biology doesn't have to be boring, you know.. It doesn't have to be all cell models and microscopes - although that is on the agenda for later. You know what makes you remember things? Like core memory remembering? Something unique and fun.
My neighbor came across a really unique biology curriculum that is 100% food based and that means my kids will be a thousand percent on board.
The first lab for this biology unit is dissecting a pickle. Yes, a pickle.
To prep the "patients", I needed to give them limbs (some broken, some not), and give a couple of them a gruesome shrapnel (staple) wound.
Then, the boys learned how to properly make dissection/autopsy cuts, and had to properly diagram and describe each "patient", their noticible wounds and probably "cause of death."
It was a gruesome sight. Relish, everywhere....
I'm here to tell you they won't forget this lesson.
