Daddy's Birthday

Today is Daddy's 27th birthday which means that for the next six months he is only one year behind me in age. 

We celebrated small today. We're all still sick with probably our third round of sickies (it goes through the house, then as the last person gets healthy the first person catches something new, and it goes round robin. Again.) so we kept it simple. I gave him a small birthday present by tearing down 2/3rds of the eight thousand Christmas light strands outside (though I refused to get on the ladder and take care of the stuff high up). Then once Calen woke up decided to leave his room from naptime, he decorated a card for his birthday with Coast Guard stickers. He even wrote "Daddy" on his own (with me telling him the letters and holding his hand, but NOT guiding it) AND his name (also with letter help). Big boy on campus! 

Then Calen said that Daddy needed a birthday cake. We didn't happen to have any cake mix in the house (what is wrong with us??) but we did have pumpkin bread mix so we made "pumpkin bread cake" for his birthday cake. 

And we had sushi for dinner which was awesome of course. 

And that was basically it. A fun quiet day but we made it as special as possible without overdoing it and extending our sickies any longer.
