Which around here means it's too cold to wear shorts but it's still too hot to wear sweaters like I've been dying to do. It's like the awkward teenage stage of months in the calendar year in Jersey.
Jersey has a way of ruining anything and everything.
Since my mom is still in town, we decided to spend the afternoon at our little local zoo. She hadn't seen it yet and it was cool enough (68 degrees) to walk around on the pavement without melting, and Camden even wore a long sleeve shirt (with shorts...sigh.). Since there were hardly any people there today, I let Cam walk about half the zoo, which is big for him, there's not much more that boy likes than roaming around without having to hold someone's hand.
Cam and Gramma (and monkeys) |
Smart boy, my monkey recognizes his own kind when he sees it. And the monkeys climbed the fence right in front of us and stared at Camden. They knew. He was one of them.

And then we decided to use up what last ounces of energy the boys had by taking them to the adjacent humongous playground. They raced down the double slide and climbed and ran and used up every last neuron of energy they had.
They were ready for bed at 6pm. Victory.
