Day 350: California Snow Days

Obviously, it doesn't snow in California.

Well I mean it does, if you live in like Lake Tahoe or something. But we don't. So it doesn't snow. Ever.

But it does rain. A lot. From November until March, it just rains. And not like little drizzles, like I'm from Seattle and I declare this is bullshit torrential downpours and Noah's Ark rain.

With rain around here comes flash flooding, uprooting trees, and some sweet wind storms.

We woke up this morning to no power. I don't even think it was actually that windy, but somewhere out here in the country, a tree or a branch or something fell on some power lines, and this whole section of the county went dark. This included the entire base and the kids' elementary school next door.

Well, shit!

We waited around to see if the power would come back on before school started, but it didn't, and so even though we got power back a few minutes after the first bell would have rung, school was cancelled for the day anyways.

We'll call it a California snow day.

And what do you do when you have kids home all day unexpectedly (but Dad still has to go to work)?

You have a Star Wars movie marathon, of course. Complete with an entire bin of Star Wars toys to enhance the movie watching experience.

Obviously, we started the marathon with episode IV: A New Hope. Because no one wastes their time watching the first 3 anyways.
