Celebrations, Snow and Turtle Power

So we started this "Good Job" jar for Calen a few weeks ago. The purpose of this was for all of us to focus on the positive things that Calen (and Cam, once he's big enough) does instead of only focusing on timeouts and taking things away for the negative (we still do that too). So every time he does something good (cleaning up his toys without whining/losing focus, eating his not-so-favorite dinner without complaining, sharing NICELY instead of being forced to, etc), he gets a little cotton pom pom thing in the Good Job Jar. And once the jar gets full, he gets a "special treat".

The jar hit the top today, so we celebrated.

Filled to the top!
We first went to Red Robin (his favorite) for cheeseburgers and french fries. We probably would have done this today regardless of whether his Good Job Jar was full or not (we had a gift certificate!), but we decided to tell Calen it was part of the "treat".

My boys at Red Robin
And, since he did so good at the restaurant, we went to the store to pick out a Ninja Turtle toy. (The boys watched their first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles episode today and became instantly obsessed over it).

And you know what? They make TMNT Legos. YES they do. Is there anything cooler than a Ninja Turtle minifig? I'm pretty sure there isn't (and this set came with Shredder too).

Donatello Lego style!!
And wouldn't you know it, it snowed tonight! Like real, stick to the ground now! Our building sent frantic texts to each other and just like that we were all outside enjoying the snow together. We even had a mini snowball fight using the accumulation on the top of the cars at 8:30 at night. And it's still snowing and the ground is covered. Maybe we'll have a snow day tomorrow!

I am totally one of THOSE moms that will keep my kid out of school tomorrow if there is snow on the ground. Not because of safety, because I want to play in the snow with him!
