Day 15: SANTA!!! I KNOW HIM!!

Today was the big day! The day almost every kid waits for during the Christmas season. That special moment where they get to meet Santa Claus himself.

Okay, so the kids have determined that this Santa (and every other Santa in Petaluma) is a Helper. They have been taught that the REAL Santa is THIS one: the one that my cousins and I saw as a kid and the boys have had the privilege of meeting twice. I mean, his legal name is Santa Claus, you guys.

The boys meeting really REAL Santa in 2011

SANTA!!!! I KNOW HIM!!!

No really. I KNOW HIM!!

Flashback 1995!! My cousins and I meeting the same REAL Santa. I'm in the middle with the Santa hat on, age 11
Anyways, meeting a helper is just as important. He relays all that important wish list info to the Big Man, after all. So, the boys dressed up in their Christmas Best, and headed into town for a very important appointment.

The Petaluma Santa, as I call him, is a really well kept secret that hides in plain sight. If you go to the Lan Mart building in the historic section of downtown, and go past the Christmas Store and up the stairs, there he is all of a sudden in front of you in a big throne. No one seems to ever know he's there so there is never a line, ever. He's just there by himself, and you bring your own camera (or phone), so it's totally FREE.

And he's good. He wears a stunning suit of red with white trim and gold detailing, a real beard and spectacles. He asked the boys of their requests, and then told Calen he needed to keep his room clean (accurate) and that Camden needed to stop shouting at his brother (also accurate), and their faces of amazement that he KNEW these things was brilliant.

Bonus this year! Calen really wanted to bring our cherished Santa Claus book (link for it HERE), a gorgeous picture book that intricately explains the inner workings and secrets of Santa, the North Pole, the Elves, the Reindeer, etc. It's all of our favorite Christmas book, and the boys pour over every page each year. This Calen wanted to show Santa it.

Enter fantastic photo ops here.

I dread the day when the kids are too old to go meet Santa. What a fun tradition.
